The Electrical Inspectorate Karachi (EIK) operates under the Electricity Act of 1910 and is responsible for implementing various regulations to ensure safety and proper management of electrical installations.

In Karachi, electrical inspections are typically required for:

→ New electricity connections (residential, commercial, or industrial)
→ Load enhancements
→ Solar net metering
→ Periodic safetycompliance (especially for commercial/industrial customers)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Only a licensed or registered electrical contractors  by EIK is authorized to issue the test form report.

Issuances of test form and NOC may take minimum three days and more which is based on electrical load applied and /or type of connections. 

The electrician must correct the issues and resubmit the application. A re-inspection will then be scheduled.

Following could be reason of  electrical inspection failure:

  • Improper earthing
  • Substandard wiring materials
  • Overloaded circuits
  • Missing safety devices (e.g., circuit breakers, RCDs)
